‘The WTC has been alive and well for 35 years. It has affected not only the women who have come to the centre and the lives of their families, but also the women who have worked at the WTC.  By listening to women across a spectrum of ages, ethnicities, classes and backgrounds, we have challenged and received ideas about what women want. The WTC has delivered innovative practice and spawned new thinking within the fields of therapy, psychoanalysis and mental health and within the Health Service. By disseminating our work widely, the impact of this small centre has been wonderfully disproportionate.
Happy Birthday the WTC’.
 Susie Orbach, Co-founder

‘The WTC is a unique institution. Built on a commitment to providing accessible quality mental health services for women and their families, it has served its community for 35 years. The WTC's open door to a wide range of women including asylum seekers, refugees and survivors of domestic violence to name a few, makes it an invaluable resource. Its sustainability rests with us all.’
Luise Eichenbaum, Co-founder

The Women's Therapy Centre provides psychotherapy for women by women.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy can be an effective intervention for women experiencing mental or emotional distress, enabling them to progress in their lives, and providing women with the tools and skills with which to more effectively process their emotional lives.

The Centre is committed to making psychotherapy accessible to women who traditionally do not have equal access to psychotherapy including women from black and ethnic minority communities, refugees, asylum seekers, young women, disabled women and women on low incomes.

  • We offer individual and group therapy which can be available in languages other than English.
  • We offer some practical advice and support to women who are refugees or asylum seekers alongside psychotherapy.
  • We provide information sessions on what is psychotherapy for community groups

Our skilled and experienced therapists who work with a wide range of mental health problems including:
